Lambda Pi Upsilon Sorority, Latinas Poderosas Unidas, Inc.
is a Latina-oriented organization founded on November 6th
of 1992 at the State University of New York College at
Geneseo. The Founding Mothers, Sandra Mosquera, Lisette
Pineda, Maria Fritz-Rodriguez, Glorivy Arce, Ebony
Robinson, and Nancy Martinez, had a dream of uniting
and strengthening the Latina woman through the ideals of
Support, Service, Sisterhood and Education. Through them
a glorious organization was born.

We exist to empower ourselves as women through learning
about each of our varied cultures and to help the underprivi-
leged members of society. We intend to gain access to
success for the underprivileged members of society through
positive political and social actions within our community
and the greater global community. We exist to change
challenge and improve our society's defects. Although we
are a Latina- oriented organization our sisterhood welcomes
women of all ethnicities. We empower ourselves as strong,
thoughtful and, intelligent women by educating and enriching
one another with the knowledge of the many mysteries of our
varied cultures.

The Hermanas of Latinas Poderosas Unidas have and will
forever continue to conquer and overcome the challenges
confronted by women of color by establishing a new path
in which women of all walks of life can follow in upholding
the founding principles of which the sorority was built upon.
